Synopsis:

"Beautiful sisters Elizabeth and Diana Holland rule Manhattan's social scene. Or so it appears. When the girls discover their status among New York City's elite is far from secure, suddenly everyone- from the backstabbing socialite Penelope Hayes, to the debonair bachelor Henry Schoonmaker, to the spiteful maid Lina Broud-threatens Elizabeth's and Diana's golden feature.
With the fate of the Hollands resting on her shoulders, Elizabeth must choose between family duty and true love. But when her carriage overturns near the East River, the girl whose glittering life lit up the city's gossip pages is swallowed by the rough current. As all of New York grieves, some begin to wonder whether life at the top proved too much for this enthereal beauty, or if, perhaps, someone wanted to see Manhattan's most celebrated daughter disappear....
In a world of luxury and deception, where appearance matters above everything and breaking the social code means running the risks of being ostracized forever, five teenagers lead dangerously scandalous lives. This thrilling trip to the age of innocence is anything but innocent."

This book was absolutly amazing! From the cover to the characters to the writting, I loved it!
The Luxe, is set in the 1800's and is about two sisters who are high up in the social life. They are the prettiest girls, have the best clothes and the best house. But they also are holding some big secrets from everyone.
Elizabeth and Diana seem like the most perfect people, but you soon find out that they are anything but that. I have to say that I Elizabeth and Diana are amazing characters. I loved how they both give off the same personality but they are nothing alike and have secrets that can change how everyone percieves them.
Elizabeth and Diana's mother tells them that they are going poor and that they will have to figure out how to make it through. Soon Elizabeth gets a engagment proposal from the Henry Schoonmaker, the person that every girl wants to be with. Elizabeth says yes, but in reality she doesn't care for him and Henry doesn't care for Elizabeth. They hardly ever talk to each other and when they do it's very little.
A big secret that Elizabeth is keeping is that she is actually in love with Will, their family worker, and Henry is in love with Diana. There is one girl that wants Henry all for herself, Penelope Hayes, and she will do anything in her power to get him. In the end things take a drastic change that I never saw coming. An absolute page turner and I can't wait to read the second novel, Splendor.
Each page has something that you don't see coming and I loved the end because it takes a complete turn from what you thought was going to actually happen. You should all read this, one of the best books that I have read!
